Live oak gallfly (Amphibolips quercuspomiformis)
The live oak gallfly or live oak apple gall wasp (Amphibolips quercuspomiformis, formerly Callirhytis quercuspomiformis) galls vary considerably depending on the time of year. The following images demonstrate the extreme dimorphism between the summer unisexual generation gall, which forms on stems, and the spring bisexual generation gall, which forms on leaves.
