Pumpkin Gall Wasp (Dryocosmus minusculus)
The pumpkin gall wasp (Dryocosmus minusculus) induces miniature galls on the leaves of all of California's black oaks. These tiny "pumpkins" are only a millimeter in diameter, so you will need to examine upper leaf surfaces closely in order to find them. A hand lens is highly recommended!
