Fuzzy gall wasp (Disholcaspis washingtonensis)
The fuzzy gall wasp (Disholcaspis washingtonensis) induces hairy, spherical galls on the stems of a variety of white oaks. Younger, developing galls can be vibrant red, but they fade to shades of beige with age.
