Pear gall wasp (Cynips maculosus)

The pear gall wasp (Cynips maculosus, formerly Besbicus maculosus) lays its eggs on the underside of scrub and leather oak leaves, resulting in galls that resemble miniature pears. These galls tend to be quite fragile and are often found crumbling apart.
