Pink Bow Tie Gall Wasp (Feron izabellae)
The pink bow tie gall wasp (Feron izabellae) induces small pink discs on the leaves of a variety of white oaks. The galls often fold up towards the center, resembling some rather fancy neckwear and giving rise to the common name. However, depending on the way the gall folds, the result may be more reminiscent of a classic tricorn hat!
