Leaf Gall Wasp (undescribed Cynipidae)
The leaf gall wasp is a scientifically undescribed cynipid species, which induces spring-generation galls on the leaves of valley oak (Quercus lobata). These diminutive structures could pass as simple leaf deformities to the casual observer, but are in fact inconspicuous homes for developing cynipid wasp larvae within.
