Natural Black Morel (Morchella snyderi)
The natural black morel (Morchella snyderi) is a choice edible mushroom found in unburned montane forests of western North America. The cap starts out tan, but darkens with age. Like all true morels, the cap is honeycombed, and the stipe is hollow.
