Leichtlin's mariposa lily (Calochortus leichtlinii) is a showy California native wildflower that is mostly limited to the Sierra Nevada and the Modoc Plateau. Each flower is characterized by three white or cream colored petals with a dark red to purple marking and a hairy yellow base. The flower head also has three lanceolate sepals which fill in the spaces between the petals. This plant typically grows in dry, exposed, rocky terrain.
