This unique geologic wonder consists of limestone deposits, stalactites and exposed travertine and can be found along Indian Creek, near Crescent Mills in Plumas County, California. This landmark plays an important role in the cultural heritage and creation beliefs of the Maidu people, and represents a place of healing. Photographed in the drought of 2014, revealing more of the geological features than are normally visible. All images copyright Timothy Boomer. All rights reserved worldwide. |
