Chocolate Tube Slime Mold (Stemonitis axifera)
Chocolate tube slime mold (Stemonitis axifera), like other Stemonitis species, is a Myxomycete whose fruiting bodies occur in tight clusters of skinny "tubes" which turn brownish upon maturity. This particular species is identifiable by the rusty tones of its spores.
