Blue-eyed darner (Aeshna multicolor)
The blue-eyed darner (Aeshna multicolor) is a large dragonfly common in the west coast states. Females are known to forage widely, often found far away from breeding sites. Darners (family Aeshnidae) are so-named for their long, slender abdomens, which are said to resemble darning needles.
