Sierra Penstemon (Penstemon heterodoxus var. heterodoxus)
Sierra penstemon (Penstemon heterodoxus var. heterodoxus) is a California-native wildflower found in the subalpine and alpine zones of the central Sierra Nevada. Also known as Sierra beardtongue or whorled penstemon, the flowers of this perennial herb have densely glandular hairs and radiate around a similarly hairy stem.

Glandular hairs are clearly visibly, differentiating this plant from the otherwise very similar mountain meadow penstemon (P. rydbergii).
