Phantom Orchid (Cephalanthera austiniae)
Phantom orchid (Cephalanthera austiniae) is a mycoheterotrophic orchid species which obtains its nutrients from fungi through parasitism, opposed to typical photosynthesis. Lacking chlorophyll, this rare, bright white plant makes for a striking display on densely shaded forest floors.
