Dwarf Alpine Indian Paintbrush (Castilleja nana)
Dwarf alpine Indian paintbrush (Castilleja nana) is a perennial herb which grows in rocky, high-elevation (generally above 8000') habitats within California, Nevada, and Utah. This highly variable species ranges in color from rust red to yellow, and is adorned with dark spots which are the stigmas just barely extending out of the corollas.
