Spiny leaf gall wasp (Diplolepis polita)

The spiny leaf gall wasp (Diplolepis polita) induces galls on a variety of rose species. Although D. polita galls are very similar in appearance to D. bicolor, the former are easily distinguished because they are found on the dorsal side of rose leaves, whereas the latter are found on rose stems.
