Mountain Lady's Slipper (Cypripedium montanum)

Mountain lady's slipper (Cypripedium montanum) is an uncommon orchid which is native to California and endemic to western North America. This beautiful and unique wildflower typically occurs under forest canopies in montane habitats and is easily recognized by its bright white labellum (pouch or "slipper") and dark purple, spiraling petals and sepals.
