California Fawn Lily (Erythronium californicum)

The California fawn lily (Erythronium californicum) is a beautiful California endemic, limited the Golden State's northern coastal counties. It is very similar to the Sierra fawn lily (E. multiscapideum). Generally, the two can be differentiated by their location, but there is some overlap at the southern end of the Cascade Range. In that vicinity, the height at which the stem splits (when a single plant has more than one flower) can be used for identification.
